He has gone to the Pro Bowl four times and in 2006 he broke the NFL record for most touchdowns scored in a season with 31, earning the NFL MVP Award. After rushing for 1,110 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2008, LT took his career tally to 11,760 rushing yards and 126 touchdowns. He also caught 15 receiving touchdowns and thrown for 7 scores.
Team Info
The Chargers began life in Los Angeles in 1960 before moving to San Diego a year later and have long boasted a fierce rivalry with the Raiders. Their lone championship came in 1963 when they were crowned kings of the American Football League. Following the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the Chargers have reached just one Super Bowl, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in 1995. They were also losing semi finalists in 1980 and 1981. San Diego went to the playoffs in 2004 with a 12-4 record, and returned in 2006 after posting an NFL-best 14-2 mark behind the running of LaDainian Tomlinson, who led the NFL with 1,815 yards rushing, and set a new NFL record by scoring 31 touchdowns during the season. However, their ignoble exit from the play-offs - losing to the Patriots at home in the Divisional round - led to head coach Marty Schottenheimer being fired. His place was taken in 2007 by Norv Turner, who led the team to an 11-5 record and a playoff win - not enough, however, to get them past the unbeaten Patriots in the AFC Championship game. In 2008 the Chargers lost to the New Orleans Saints at Wembley Stadium but did win their final four contests to secure the AFC West crown. After defeating the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the playoffs, the Chargers fell to Pittsburgh on the road but have high hopes of increased success in 2009.
