Team Info

The Bengals played in the American Football League in 1968-69 before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Cincinnati reached Super Bowl XVI in 1982 and Super Bowl XXIII in 1989, losing to the San Francisco 49ers on both occasions. Leading up to the 2003 season, the Bengals won just 19 games in five seasons and were perennial cellar dwellers. However in 2005 head coach Marvin Lewis led Cincinnati to their first playoff berth since 1990 as they finished with an 11-5 record - tied for first place in the AFC North with eventual Super Bowl champs Pittsburgh. In 2008, the Bengals struggled to a 4-11-1 finish as Carson Palmer was sidelined for 12 games. With their star quarterback back in the mix in 2009, the Bengals will look to climb back up the NFL rankings.
