Team Info
The Ravens franchise took flight in 1996 when owner Art Modell made the controversial move to take his Cleveland Browns team to Baltimore. The team was re-named and all former Browns records remained in Cleveland. In January, 2001, the Ravens made fans in Cleveland even more bitter about the switch when they defeated the New York Giants 34-7 to win Super Bowl XXXV. The Ravens grabbed the AFC North title in 2006, finishing with a 13-3 record, but fell to the division's basement in 2007 with a 5-11 record, ending head coach Brian Billick's tenure with the team. The appointment of head coach John Harbaugh and selection of quarterback Joe Flacco in the 2008 NFL Draft paid immediate dividends as the Ravens won 11 regular season games before seeing off Miami and Tennessee in the playoffs. Baltimore fell one game short of the Super Bowl in 2008 but have high hopes of going a step further in 2009.
