Fantasy Two Minute Warning - Week 14

Injuries are par for the course in the NFL - especially if you’re a smaller framed wide receiver accustomed to taking big hits. But it seems like Week 14 has been particularly unkind: Viking Percy Harvin and Lions Ryan Broyles and Titus Young have all been placed on injured reserve, while talismanic Ram Danny Amendola is fighting the odds to be fit for Buffalo, and NFLUK fan-favourite Ceil Shorts III is racing the clock to make it back from concussion in time for the Jets.

Who’ll pick up the slack in Minnesota and Detroit? And will Amendola and Shorts III make it? All this and so much more in your latest helping of injury and depth chart news from around the league:

  • Philadelphia RB Bryce Brown will start in Week 14 while incumbent LeSean McCoy continues to work back from a concussion. McCoy has not practiced this week and will likely be sidelined at least until Week 15.
  • Minnesota WR Percy Harvin has been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, leaving the Vikings even more short-handed in the passing game than previously.
  • New England TE Aaron Hernandez was limited on Thursday with an ongoing ankle issue but should be fully fit for Monday Night’s clash with the Texans. He’ll be a focal point of the offense.
  • Cincinnati TE Jermaine Gresham missed Thursday’s practice and is struggling with a hamstring issue. It’s now possible he’ll miss Sunday’s game versus Dallas.
  • Atlanta RB Michael Turner put in a limited Thursday session as he deals with an elbow injury. He’s expected to be a full go against Carolina in an OK matchup, though local media are speculating about a larger role for backup Jacquizz Rodgers.
  • Minnesota TE Kyle Rudolph was limited in Thursday’s practice with a shoulder injury, but is expected to be fine for Week 14 versus Chicago. He’ll continue to see plenty of looks with Harvin out for the year.
  • Tennessee WR Kenny Britt missed Thursday’s practice having been excused for personal reasons. He’s expected to be more involved than ever in Indianapolis.
  • Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger will reclaim his starting job versus San Diego this weekend. The gunslinger is still troubled by rib and shoulder issues but is locked in to start against the Chargers’ middle-of-the-pack defense.
  • Seattle WR Sidney Rice (concussion) has been cleared to play in Week 14 and will start versus Arizona in a decent matchup.
  • Detroit WRs Titus Young and Ryan Broyles have both been placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season. Former Jaguar Mike Thomas will be given the first shot at replacing them in the lineup - and could be a sneaky budget play moving forward.
  • Indianapolis RB Donald Brown will miss Week 14 with an ankle issue. Rookie Vick Ballard will get the lion’s share of the carries and should be a decent play versus Tennessee.
  • New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez will reclaim his starting job this weekend in Jacksonville. All Jets’ skill position players except RB Shonn Greene are off limits at this point.
  • Carolina WR Brandon LaFell is thought likely to miss Sunday’s game against the Falcons with turf toe. It could mean an increase in chances for undervalued TE Greg Olsen and reserve WR Louis Murphy.
  • Cincinnati K Mike Nugent will take a back seat to recently signed Josh Brown against Dallas. Nugent has picked up a calf issue but is thought likely to return later in the season.
  • Green Bay WR Jordy Nelson missed Thursday’s practice with a lingering hamstring injury. It’s believed Greg Jennings - still finding his feet as he recovers from mid-season groin surgery - will take over for Nelson this weekend.
  • Dallas RB DeMarco Murray (foot) practiced fully on Thursday and is all set for a full complement of work in Cincinnati.
  • New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw did not practice Thursday - as per his usual in-week practice routine. He’ll be full go on Sunday at home to New Orleans and should see a significant number of touches.
  • New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks missed Thursday’s practice with a knee issue. Although Nicks has played through similar niggles in the past, there’s some concern as to his playing status for Sunday. His situation bears watching.
  • Jacksonville RB Montell Owens will draw the start in a tough matchup versus the Jets on Sunday as holdover Rashad Jennings deals with a concussion.
  • Jacksonville RB Cecil Shorts III did not practice on Thursday due to concussion. His availability for Week 14 at this point is in question in what might be an unappetising matchup regardless.
  • Green Bay RB Ryan Grant - signed earlier this week - will be active in Week 14 and could see a decent number of touches in relief of starter Alex Green. James Starks will be out for several weeks - at least - with a knee injury.
  • St. Louis WR Danny Amendola is still working his way back from a heel injury, though did put in some limited practice work on Thursday. It’s thought Amendola could wind up as a game-time decision for Week 14, though rookie Chris Givens is making a case for an increase in targets either way.
